OOH FASHION.

Hola, tis I, The one and only Chinisua.

This week I popped in to see how all my old stardoll pals were, and feel a quick review of the starplaza's lastest gear is just what the doctor ordered.

Well, to be honest, I was suprised, Stardoll fashion has certainly grown up... there's beige and mohair everywhere! Just a few months ago it was like we were in a remake of Flashdance, with neon and leotards at every corner....

Though I quite like it, and here are a few outfits I tested:
I have to say I LOVE the Red and Plaid DKNY coats, the DKNY brogues, the Hotbuys leather waistcoat and the Hotbuys biker boots.....

Thursday 6 August 2009

She clicks the door, the silence is bittersweet, the memories are flooding her head, but behind that door are things too beautiful to stay eye-feasts.

Lovely readers

After much deliberation, thoughts, a few salty tears, I'm off. In a haze of regret, because I know deep down I've just left for the wrong reasons. Nothing to do with anything, so I'll say the good news: You lucky people will still read my posts - sincere condoleances, by the way...

It seems as though Chinisua has left the building, but I reckon she'll be back with that magical smile AND the bluegreen86 and undamyumbrellla interviews. Yes, that's right.

And as a leaving present, check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEc0AiK-5h8 - it's my favourite part of a beautiful film.

Be happy.

Five minutes with... horse729

So as you might know, this is the sequel to our first "Five minutes with..." and this week we found not just a girl. So much more than a girl... She is Wren. Wren is fourteen, from England. Wren the up-and-coming one, the honest one, the lycra catsuit in a world of jeans. A whirlwind of sharp, smart and fierce, a girl who just exudes something most of us wished we had, an It quality... Don't believe me ? Well, read ahead !

1. What's so great about Stardoll ?I first joined because of the paperdolls, which I still love, but now I go on because of the creative and social aspects. Right now, I am refurbishing my suite, which has me going on every day to collect my free five stardollars. I also love visiting people's suites to see their outfits and to get ideas. I may have a small friends list, but I chat with so many diverse people in their guestbooks.
2. Apart from "Doll International", what are your favourite websites (and why) ?I love YouTube.com because you get free music videos AND the hilarious nigahiga. I also ah-dore nymag.com because they have everything you could every want on fashion shows, designers, and models and net-a-porter.com because of their great deals and last season's buys. I do have a certain fondness for the stardoll blogspots like yours, which feature cheats, news, and members.
3. Hot tip for next season ?Try to incorporate more of the 1970s in your outfits. I think we are headed in that, nature-inspired, direction.
4. Define your country in three words. Obama-Rama, Anti-Racist, Racist.
5. Who are your fashion and life heroes ?My fashion heroes are Mary Quant, Coco Chanel, and the Olsen twins (they started the Birkin trend!). Coco Chanel broke into the world of fashion and business that was mostly a man's, with a few women playing puppets, Mary Quant brought so many trends and fads that it is incredible that so few people recognize as much. I also idolize Yves St. Laurent. Like Mary Quant, he made his name during the '60s and he was just amazing. My real life heroes are all of the wonderful, marvelous people who lost their lives helping others during the September 11th terrorist attack and those who make something out of nothing.

Yaelalon, The New Top Model Winner!

"Sometimes i have this feeling, when im almost exploding from andrenalin, getting high from a blast of inspiration."

This was the phrase that started everything. One of the longest applications, the most intriguing. The one that got her to this blog. You might know Michelle. On Stardoll, you'll see someone called yaelaon who looks like she's from another fashion planet, entirely. On a blog, you'll see a picture of an outfit she wore to a party and say to yourself: "How did she think that one up ?". You'll go on to her page, and she's wearing something so avant-garde it hurts. So out of the box, it's shocking. And you'll maybe love it, possibly hate it. But there's no way you'll think it's boring. And you can feature her on the best and worst dressed lists, it ain't going to change her style...

Michelle won The New Top Model, the Stardoll competition run by Chinisua, due to her charisma, personnality and individualism. Her sceneries were original, her style was good, her wit was better. She's interesting, her growing club Smartalk is a rare club that's not about fashion but intellect. She's fashionable, a sort of Gareth Pugh muse force two. She's inspiring, after visiting her page, I want to know how to layer and use furniture. She's Michelle, and this is who she is.

1. So after this competition, are you going off to conquer Stardoll on more modeling challenges ?
The next top model was a great challenge, and I think it’s enough for me for now. But who knows! Maybe someone would want me to model for a Stardoll magazine or something.

2. Was it a surprise for you to be chosen?
To be honest, yes. I was sure Blair will win, because she was so professional and her photos were usually perfect. I won’t lie, I had great moments in the competition and I think I was good. But I was quite messy and unprofessional, no?

3. Your style is extremely unique, has your doll's style changed much since your beginning?
It definitely changed a lot. I know that we all love to hate Stardoll, but I owe them for bringing me into the fashion world. When I made my Stardoll account, I was just a girl who liked to dress up dolls. But Stardoll introduced me to fashion, and the rest is history! Haha

4. Are you easily inspired? What makes your imagination tilt for an outfit?
I am inspired by everything! I can give you a great example: Some days ago I met a 95 years old woman. She was crazily interesting as a person, but from the group of people I’ve been with, I was the only one who looked at her clothes. When I came back home, I spent hours on drawing clothes inspired by her.But it’s not always like that; sometimes I just create an outfit from my imagination. I am a very inspired person, but I don’t NEED inspiration for an outfit.

5. Do you believe in elites, or consider yourself one?
I like Stardoll not only because of fashion, but also because of the social life in it. I believe Stardoll is a bit like Hollywood! When you think about it, Stardoll has 30 million members, which is a huge amount of people. So members like Fakeshake3, Style_Magazine, Singingmermaid and others really are famous! I mean, about 1-5 million people probably know their name, which is like being a celeb. So I don’t believe in the term “elite”, but obviously, there are more famous and less famous celebs in Hollywood. I personally enjoy being the not-very-famous celeb who you know because some tabloid dished her crazy avant-garde outfit once! :P

6. Do you get more attention as time goes by?
I’m not sure. I get more attention when I wear crazy things!

7. Do you believe in narcissism?
I am a bit narcissistic myself, but I hate it. I don’t think that narcissism is a good thing, but it exists and it’s very hard to control it when you have it. I try not to hurt people with my narcissism, and only to annoy myself with it.

8. Do you care what people think about what you wear?
I really do! I like attention, and one of the reasons that I like fashion is because clothes make people look at you in different ways. I love when people give me those “WTF?” or “you are weird…” looks on the street.I won’t lie, sometimes I don’t have the guts to wear something because I’m scared of how people will respond, but I really hate myself when I am like that.

9. Do you still see yourself on Stardoll for the years to come?
I enjoy my time on Stardoll, but I’m sure that I will leave one day, where I will find a fashion lovers community in real life. But there are some people who I will stay in touch with!

10. What is your proudest achievement, real life or virtual?
Ouch. I hate to say it, but I can’t think of any achievement that I am proud of.

11. Are there any people you hate on Stardoll? (dish the gossip :P)
Well there are some people who I hate. I won’t say specific names, but I can’t stand snobby people. And we all hate Callie, no?

12. Best oufit you've ever worn ?
It was a long black dress that I borrowed from my grandmother, a vintage jacket which is the best clothing piece I have, a pair of blue flats, an old ladies vintage hat, and a pearls necklace. I wore it to my aunt’s wedding. Now that I think about it, I think my proudest achievement is wearing that outfit.

13. And in real life, who are you, what do you do ?
Arghh, it is so hard to describe myself in a few words! So...Want to know me in real life? Look for a weird looking girl in the streets of Tel-Aviv :D

Five minutes with... Rockabilly.

Well, to dust the blog up a bit and keep posting, I and Chinisua have decided that a weekly column featuring a short biography about a Fabulous Nobody, an unknown yet stylish person on Stardoll plus five questions would help you lot not entirely desert us... Today, we're celebrating our Five Minutes With... Rockabilly. !
Our first ever girl is Amelie, from England. As known as Rockabilly. on Stardoll, she's a kooky, cool seventeen year old with a fresh face and an eye for photos. But don't think she's just a rockabilly: she mixes up fashions with talent, and is actually rather nice. And did I mention just how cool she is ? Yeah ? Well, see for yourselves.
1. What's so great about Stardoll ?There are many reasons that I can't help returning to Stardoll, and I'm sure many of us have contemplated wether or not it is worth our free time. However I came to the conclusion that, although it seems childlike in appearance, it is so much more than a simple dress up game. I have spoken to so many amazing people from all walks of life, something I would never have done otherwise. It's always there, wether I'm in a bad mood or have exciting new fashion ideas to express. And of course, I love to dress up dolls (or not dress Robert Pattinson hehe)
2. Apart from "Doll International", what are your favourite websites ?The internet is so vast! I mean what if I get the sudden urge to buy the entire series of The power Puff Girls? Ebay.com of course, the saviour to any girl on a budget. Phillip Lim dress for £100? Haha, perfect.Of course there is YouTube.com, now in all honesty, maybe watching every episode of America's Next Top Model in 3 days is a little extreme, but I just NEEDED to know who won... Oh and I can watch Australia's Next Top Model too! Perfecto. Also, dazeddigital.com the site equivalent of Dazed & Confused Magazine.
3. Hot tip for next season ? Hot tip, hmm. I would look out for the new line from Twenty8Twelve (by Sienna Miller) She's been wearing it recently and every piece has been exquisite, if not a little high street. I live near London, and If you ever get to shop there visit Rellik a great vintage boutique, and in Manchester go to RyansVintage for super cheap items and unbelievable choice. In terms of fashion items:- Transparent textiles- Mixing Denims- Art canvas
4. Define your country in three (ish) words.England- Grey, cultural-diversity, Unforgiving
5. Who ae your fashion and life heroes ?Fashion and life heros come separately without a doubt.Fashion: Calvin Klein for being my first fashion romance, Vivienne Westwood for being the queen, Anna Sui for for filling all my fashion dreams.Life: People who love. people who live and people who laugh. My dad.
If you want to be featred here too and think you have what it takes feel free to apply in my (Englily) guestbook on Stardoll.

Ignorance...

Recently this blog has been on a downturn. BUT FEAR NOT! I'm back and ready to post.

Yet, my return doesn't change the depressing state of stardoll. WHERE ARE THE DRAMA QUEENS?!?! The once plentiful well of drama that is stardoll has long dried up. My plan? Try and salvage as much scandal is possible. So I'm saying- "Out with the old, and in with the new." We want fresh faces.... Not Fakeshake4, or whatever her name is.

My Stardoll Chastity

Yup guys, I'm doing the whole I'm-taking-a-break thing. And d'you know what ? It's harder than what I thought...
Every day I went on Stardoll since April. I've never not been on it for a week. Faulty Internet connexions, holidays or bans have never been obstacles for a die-hard user. And every time I've gone on the computer, it was mechanical to log on. So two days ago, when I decided that I was taking a break, I thought it would be easy. Just forget about virtual life a bit. But the problem is that it seems virtual life was taking over real life. I've been known to stay on here for... seven hours a day. F*ck that seems a lot. I have no brothers or sisters, a good but somewhat contented-by-little social life. So loneliness has kind of been a side of my life that I'd never really noticed. On Stardoll I've met some pretty fantastic people, I chatted to them and they became my social life. Of course, I have friends in real life, and I never neglected them over Stardoll, but in real life, people are different. They can just disappoint you more easily.
Anyway, I must admit, I just entered my account. To check mail, to see what Chinisua's done to me (love it) and look at my guestbook... and I've realized how much I think about Stardoll. I think about buying, decorating, designing. Has a website turned me into a die-hard consumer, no-lifeist obsessionalist ? Have I changed myself so bad that I'm just Englily with a touch of Lily ? I hope not, yet the way my fingers itch towards typing in Stardoll.com is waaay disturbing. So when I'm officially back, looks as though I'm going to have to change something. I had fun, but I'll have fun in the new life too. Let's drink to that :)
